Under this more than 700 boys and girls have been enrolled and trained in Computer Applications so far. The response of the Community to this Program has been very good and demand is more than the number of seats for this course.
Recognizing the demand for DIGITAL MARKETING skills in recent years, a six months course was added to the Ujjwal Bhawishya umbrella in 2023. Two batches have already been certified and the course continues to be in big demand in the community
A new addition to its vocational curriculum, Amba has started a three months TALLY SOFTWARE COURSE this year
Training for cutting & tailoring is provided to women for providing them with employability skills. The women are given six months of training after which they are evaluated and government recognized certificates are awarded to them.
Originally this program was conducted under the GRC Samajik Suvidha Kendra program of the Delhi government. Currently, Amba Foundation offers this training under its “EMPOWER’ project
After receiving training the women are able to find employment in local boutiques or garment production houses. Few start their own tailoring work and some find employment as Trainers. This training continues to be very popular especially for girls and women who can read and write but were unable to complete their formal schooling
Apart from the Vocational skills they learn, all vocational students are provided training for Entrepreneurship, English speaking, Handling interviews, Basic computer applications, Sales / Marketing and personality development.
All youth in the age group of 18-25 years are exposed to these workshops at Amba.
Women are taught handicrafts such as jewelry making, gift bags, cards, shagun envelopes, diya making, home decorations and cloth bags.
The purpose is to train the women to make products for sale. These are then marketed through stalls put up by Amba at various melas and haat in the city.
To encourage self employment after completion of vocational training (cutting & tailoring) students are linked with market needs and encouraged to make products for sale.
Handicrafts & paper products made by the women are also marketed by the Organization through stalls at fetes & melas in different parts of the city.
Another vocational skill that continues to be in great demand within the East Delhi community that Amba serves is ‘BEAUTICIAN TRAINING’.
Over the years, more than 400 girls and women have benefited from this training at Amba – many of whom are either employed by nearly beauty parlours or have started their own.
Currently, this training is a six-month course offered under Amba’s ‘AAROHI’ project.
