HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMS

Under the Delhi Govt’s GRC program Amba ran health center/dispensary in Majboor Nagar slum cluster for several years. These were for the benefit of the slum dwellers and adjoining areas offering free consultancy by qualified and dedicated doctors along with free medicines to its patients.

Currently, Amba engages with Doctors and Specialists who facilitate awareness & counseling for BASIC & SPECIFIC health related topics to the community.

Primary Health Clinics

Since year 2000 the Organization is running a health center/dispensary in Majboor Nagar slum cluster for the benefit of the slum dwellers and adjoining areas. 

The Center offers daily free consultancy by qualified and dedicated doctors along with free medicines to its patients. In addition fortnightly health clinics are held for women under its GRC project .

Over 50000 patients have benefited from these Clinics over the years..

Health Camps

As part of its outreach program and to provide wider health coverage the Organization holds regular bimonthly Health Camps at different areas in the Community. The services of a gynecologist, pediatrician & general physician are provided along with free medicines at these Camps. 

Linkages with government hospitals are also established for follow up and referral of patients. Awareness Camps and free Check ups for early detection and prevention have been held for serious diseases such as TB, Cancer, HIV AIDS, Eye check up, cataract and Anemia.

1300 patients have benefitted from these Camps.

WASH

For prevention and control of communicable diseases and to encourage basic hygiene for better health WATSON program is conducted in the community for children, youth and women. 

Awareness Meetings are conducted to demonstrate the correct method of hand washing and the importance of hand washing before and after toilet and before having meals. 

The importance of keeping our drains and lanes clean and forming peer groups as Health Champions for advocacy among community members to act as catalysts.

Nutrition Camps

Regular nutrition Camps are also organized among women in the community to create awareness about the importance of nutrition and how it can be achieved with minimum cost. 

Special focus is on nutrition for adolescents and pregnant and lactating women.
