Stree Shakti Health Camps

Amba Foundation organized a series of ‘Stree Shakti Health Camps’ in 2006-2007.The purpose of these Health Camps was to provide holistic and quality health care to the doorstep of underprivileged women in the Mandawali area of Delhi. Over 2500 women and children benefitted from these Camps where not only free consultation and medicines were provided, free lab tests, nutrition and yoga demonstration camps were also organized for the beneficiaries. The program was sponsored and was in partnership with the government of Delhi. Those patients which were referred to district hospitals for referral were taken there and their treatment followed up. Amba Foundation was honored with the ‘Bhagidari Award’ in 2007 by the Chief Minister of Delhi for outstanding work in holding ‘Stree shakti Health Camps’ for underprivileged women by providing quality healthcare at their doorstep.

To mark the ongoing journey of empowerment Amba Foundation launched an in-house Newsletter “Amba Vaani”. Often Social Organizations involved at the grassroots overlook the importance of recording activities and its impact on the Community.

This is mostly due to lack of funds & trained manpower. In our effort to bring out a Quarterly Newsletter the organization was fortunate to have one of its members ,a professional in the field of reporting & journalism volunteer to train and mentor a group of young women from the Community closely associated with Amba . This Group has been trained as the core editorial team for bringing out the newsletter.

For the Newsletter to be an effective medium of communication within and beyond the Community, Hindi was the language of communication. To overcome the paucity of funds only a limited number of copies are printed while for the rest it is circulated as an e –newsletter.
